Thursday blues

Another thinly traded session expected later this morning in KLSE. Investors will keenly follow government-linked counters of Time and Timecom. TM and AirAsia are expected to attract the volume. Time to get in for 2008 window-dressing?

DJIA is up 0.02%, bouncing back from news that housing prices fell and concerns of poor retail sales. However Apple share price continues to break record; it rose to reach its highest ever level ($200.96) in Nasdaq after more than doubling this year on sales of Macintosh personal computers and demand for the iPhone.

Another one vying for Selangor-Pahang water project
GADANG Holdings Bhd, a construction and property firm, plans to partner foreign contractors and bid for the RM4 billion Pahang-Selangor water transfer project, its top official said. (Business Times)

POSCO to upgrade MEGS Industries facilities
South Korean steel giant Posco said yesterday that it had bought a Malaysian steelmaker as part of efforts to establish a production network elsewhere in Asia. Posco, the world's fourth largest steelmaker, said it had signed a deal to acquire 60 per cent of MEGS Industries Sdn Bhd for US$15.6 million. (Business Times)

Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Inc. will pay $4.5 billion to gain control of Marmon Holdings Inc., the Pritzker family's closely held collection of 125 companies, in what may be his biggest non-insurance acquisition. (Bloomberg)

Home prices in 20 U.S. metropolitan areas fell in October by the most in at least six years, raising the risk that more Americans will walk away from properties that are worth less than they owe. (Bloomberg)
